Stramash – The Scots Music Show gives you a taste of the wonderful music and song of Scotland
in an intimate and informal setting.

"'Different' songs – not your standard tourist fare" *

One of the best "things to do” during your visit to Edinburgh - Stramash is essential, educational, cultural and fun whether you’re travelling alone, with your family or in a large group.

The show is all about the music and song of Scotland (not the performers). We share with the audience hauntingly beautiful slow airs and uniquely Scottish Strathspeys, thrilling jigs and lively reels. Songs and tunes of love and work, mountains and glens, war and everyday life will be introduced and you'll hear some of the stories that lie behind them. The musicians will take you from ancient clan battles to contemporary events telling stories along the way!

Each show has a combination of fiddle, highland bagpipe, Scots smallpipes, guitar (and any other instruments that the musicians bring along). We have both unaccompanied and accompanied singing and of course you’ll hear the songs of Robert Burns including his most popular song - Auld Lang Syne – sung to two tunes! We encourage the audience to join in with the songs and the banter!

To complement the tunes we have a stunning slideshow, much of which you can see on our flickr page.
We’re happy for you to take photos during the show - why not add them to our galleries?

If you’d like to meet us and hear more about the shows, we’re on the Royal Mile opposite St Giles Cathedral (outside Royal Mile Whiskies) on show day afternoons.

"I don't think I'll ever forget the sound of thirty Russian voices pelting out Auld Lang Syne!" *
